As part of the 'Modular Data Processing Center Construction' (MDPC) project, our company carried out the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, as well as air conditioning systems.
The unique feature of this project is the uninterruptible power supply system for the MDSP. The system, designed and implemented by us, consists of six dynamic uninterruptible power supply (DUPS) units, CPM300, with a capacity of 300 kW/333 kVA each, manufactured by the German company 'Piller Germany GmbH & Co. KG.' The DUPS units operate in parallel mode, preserving energy through a kinetic energy storage system that rotates at a speed of 4750 revolutions per minute (a module weighing over 2300 kg). In the event of a power outage, the storage system utilizes the accumulated energy to power the connected load until the diesel generator sets start.
Unlike traditional static UPS systems, the DUPS units do not use batteries, which eliminates the need for infrastructure to accommodate batteries, their periodic replacement, and subsequent disposal.
In accordance with the customer's requirements, we designed, manufactured, and installed insulated all-metal block containers to house the DUPS units. These containers are designed for operation in outdoor temperatures ranging from -50ºC to +50ºC and are equipped with their own automatic fire suppression systems, lighting, climate control systems, and lightning protection.
The Piller CPM300 dynamic uninterruptible power supply models are being supplied and installed in Kazakhstan for the first time.
To ensure guaranteed (backup) power supply for the MCPD, our company installed, configured, and put into operation two sets of containerized diesel generator units (DGUs) with a capacity of 1364 kW/1705 kVA (PRP) each. The system is designed with a 1+1 redundancy configuration, meaning each DGU is capable of providing power to the MCPD at 100% load for up to 4 hours from its own 1000-liter fuel tank, equipped with an emergency fuel discharge system. In addition to the DGU's own fuel tanks, a 10-cubic-meter fuel reservoir was installed on the MCPD site. Each DGU is equipped with an automatic fuel refilling system, allowing the equipment to operate for an extended period in the absence of external power supply.
In the event of an emergency situation such as an external power outage or a failure/accident at the facility's transformer substation, the DGUs start simultaneously and, if necessary, support each other, supplying power to the MCPD within 20 seconds.
The DGUs are installed in insulated all-metal block containers equipped with automatic fire suppression systems, lighting, supply and exhaust ventilation, automatic blinds, heaters, and lightning protection.
To maintain the desired temperature and humidity levels 24/7, 365 days a year, in the equipment room of the MCPD, a precision air conditioning system consisting of twelve dual-circuit Liebert PDX-104DA air conditioners with twenty-four outdoor units from the manufacturer VERTIV was installed. These systems can operate in outdoor temperatures ranging from -40°C to +52°C.
All the systems installed by our team are equipped with remote monitoring and control capabilities, displaying the key parameters of the power supply and cooling equipment at the Central Dispatch Center of the MCPD.
