The vast expanses of the Republic of Kazakhstan are crossed by the pipelines of our client, JSC "KazTransOil." A pipeline is not just a pipe with oil, gas, or water, but also a complex system of transportation, valve operation, control, security, telemetry transmission, communication equipment, data transmission, and more.
Communication and data transmission equipment is installed at special facilities located along the entire pipeline. The remoteness from civilization, lack of quality roads, and the need for mobile service brigades pose strict requirements for the reliability of all systems, especially the power supply systems.
The team of MEK-Astana has assembled, installed, and configured an optimal set of power supply systems for remote facilities. Such equipment can be useful for any company that has a complex system of terrestrial communications: oil/water/gas pipelines, trunk communication lines, railways, etc. The kit includes:
1. Uninterruptible power supply unit from EFORE/ENEDO (Finland) with power module redundancy;
2. Power quality analyzer from Janitza electronics GmbH (Germany);
3. Sonnenschein batteries from Exide Technologies;
4. Battery Analysis & Care System (BACS®) from GENEREX Systems GmbH (Germany).
The main distinguishing features of the kit are:
1. Extended autonomy of communication equipment in the event of external power supply failure, exceeding 36 hours.
2. Monitoring of power supply parameters and event logging at the input from the power supply organization.
3. Extended battery life due to intelligent monitoring and adjustment of the charge level of each battery, early detection of problematic batteries before irreversible impact on other batteries.
4. Remote monitoring of all components of the power supply system kit.
In the scope of this project, MEK-Astana also replaced outdated data transmission network equipment with modern equipment from Cisco Systems (USA), increasing the bandwidth of fiber optic communication channels from 2 Mbps to 100/1000 Mbps for production-technical communication, production and security video surveillance, and various production automation systems.
Despite the challenging natural and climatic conditions at the work locations and the problems caused by global quarantine measures implemented by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and equipment manufacturers in response to the second wave of the COVID-19 epidemic, our company successfully resolved all issues related to equipment/material procurement and logistics to the installation sites. We completed all necessary coordination with the client, and our engineering teams carried out a massive amount of installation and equipment configuration work at more than 110 sites located in the Pavlodar, Karaganda, and Turkestan regions.
