During the period from January to December 2022, our company implemented two projects for the comprehensive reconstruction of communication and power supply systems in intermediate pump stations (IPS) at the 41st object of the Atyrau and Kulsary Oil Pipeline Administrations of KazTransOil JSC..
The IPS are located along the Uzen-Atyrau-Samara oil pipeline, starting from the Tengiz field and extending for over 1000 km to the border between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.
The objectives of the reconstruction were to carry out the reconstruction of the communication and emergency power supply system with monitoring organization, establish communication channels for production and security video surveillance, as well as various production automation systems for the Client.
The implementation of these projects faced significant challenges, including working within the protected area of the oil pipeline, remoteness of the facilities from populated areas, lack of quality (often any) roads, complex procedures for obtaining permits and approvals for the work, delays in equipment manufacturing from manufacturers, logistical collapse in the movement of goods from Europe to Kazakhstan, and naturally, the scale of the reconstruction carried out.
Significant distances and the associated logistical issues related to the delivery of equipment and personnel to the installation sites, the entire spectrum of possible weather conditions, and the need to perform turnkey work in a "carry everything with us" mode created additional difficulties.
As part of the reconstruction, the following main equipment was installed by the MEK-Astana team:
-
Uninterruptible power supplies with backup from Enedo (Finland);
-
High-capacity Sonnenschein batteries from Exide Technologies (Germany);
-
Power quality analyzers from Janitza electronics GmbH (Germany);
-
Battery condition analysis systems from GENEREX Systems GmbH (Germany);
-
Cisco routers from Cisco Systems (USA);
-
Surge protection devices from OBO Bettermann (Germany).
-
Gas analyzers from NIIIT LLC (Russian Federation).
Power supply systems, battery banks, and power quality analyzers are connected to the Client's monitoring system.
As a result of the work carried out, the communication channel capacity via fiber optic lines was increased from 2 Mbit/s to 100/1000 Mbit/s for production and security video surveillance, and various production automation systems.
Stable power supply to the IPS was ensured, with autonomous uninterruptible power supply for telecommunication equipment provided for a minimum of 36 hours under full load.
The IPS facilities are equipped with additional heating.
Despite the predictable and unexpected challenges encountered during the execution of the work, our company successfully completed the aforementioned projects within the contractual deadlines and with the required level of quality.
